Not long after my sojourn to Miami, I made a mad dash to Honolulu for a whopping 3 nights. Why only 3 nights, you may ask? Mainly because there were only 2 more vacation days unaccounted for through the end of this year. If I could find a flight that left on Saturday, then could return on Tuesday evening for the right price (United was having a sale), I’d do it. Fortunately or unfortunately for me, I found the right price for the right days.
Three days/nights in Waikiki is more than enough for me to run around. I did my usual drinking at the Mai Tai Bar at The Royal Hawaiian, as well as at the Mai Tai Bar at Ala Moana. I bought leis in Chinatown, shopped at Ala Moana and ate at smaller local places. For instance, I had a good spam sandwich at Coconuts Café, as well as a great smoothie called The Minty Hawaiian (pineapple, banana and mint) at Hawaiian Crown Plantation. And, of course, I got a little sunbathing at the beach time in.
The only downer was that my 10:00 p.m. flight on Tuesday night was delayed until 3:46 a.m. on Wednesday morning. All those hours in the cold(!) airport when all of the restaurants/bars had already closed were not fun.
Thus, let’s skip to the photos.
