In my race to become a social media maven, I bowed to peer pressure and became a willing participant in most of the things that always seemed stupid to me, the main one being Facebook! Though I resisted it for years, it got me in the end. Next it was on to Tumblr, Instagram, the blog(s) and Twitter. In case you didn’t know, there IS another blog. The other one, which is also a general blog, was actually started first. It was started for the general public for the purpose of seeing how many random people would read it, comment on it and/or subscribe to it. I started this blog a few weeks after the other blog, but this one was meant more for friends, as it has a tendency to be more “me,” more “to the point” and a little more detailed as to my personal life. As time has passed (though not that much), 235 people are my “friends” on Facebook, 247 people are my connections on Linked In, 29 people have decided to follow me on Tumblr, 5 on Instagram and 19 on Twitter. I had several followers on Twitter long before my first tweet, which was only within the past month! Isn’t that surprising?! On my other blog, random people have made comments and 35 or 36 people are following me. On this one, however, only 2 people are following me. That makes me laugh, especially considering that this is the one for my friends and people who actually know me. Maybe this blog should be put out to pasture while the other one continues to expand! Then again, maybe I should refer the people from the other blog to this one!
I’ve said it before and will say it again, entirely too much is shared on social media. (There WAS that weird Italian guy semi-stalking me on Facebook who wanted to be “friends.” I’ve since deleted our friendship, changed my main E-mail to one that he’s not familiar with and blocked him from EVERYTHING!!!) Most of you know that my true self is highly private about things that matter. Anyway, all of the really juicy stuff is only written about in my diary, in code, no less! Maybe reverting to that for awhile will let me purge myself of my deepest, darkest secrets at this time! You could read my diary, but… I’d have to kill you afterwards!
